Our services are in increasing demand of people seeking help for their immigration applications refusals by the Home Office, appeals, benefits stopped, rents areas, credit cards debts, foods shortages, evictions and depressions. Meanwhile, most of them are not allowed to work or study while they await the processing of their applications. They often suffer the effects of trauma and separation, with insufficient protection frameworks to adequately address their mental and physical rehabilitation. Our worry is particularly for vulnerable unaccompanied children and families who haven’t got the voice or the ability to finance their legal advocate needed. Many of users accessing our free welfare legal services, depending totally on the project for changes that they need and looking for.
(At the end of last year: 1. Over 875 refugees, asylum seekers and local residents will have a greater sense of independence and ability to engage with local community issues through the increased provision and accessibility of quality advice, information awareness, and volunteering programme, and translating & interpreting services. 2. Over 875 beneficiaries will gain knowledge and have improved awareness of the issues affecting them, and other life changes through workshops, in house meetings and social events. 3. Over 900 refugees and asylum seekers will benefit directly from the project’s welfare rights services including its casework, representations, and free translated information & services. 4. 900 refugees and asylum seekers will improve citizenship and lead to a more active and engaged community as the project will inform users of local events, and local mainstream providers and how to influence the social and political life in the borough, and fully be integrated. 5. Through organising meetings and social events, around 70 -80 beneficiaries will be brought together with indigenous to share experiences, engaged, and learn from their common issues and challenges. Partnership
Work with us to help deliver services that meet the needs of our community. We know that, together we can do more. Partnership. The organisation’s partnership is based on joint working with local and national agencies to provide services based on consultation and needs analyses. We believe that joined up working can deliver services more effectively and efficiently to where they are needed most. Kongolese Centre for Information & Advice’s partnership model is explicitly designed to be responsive to local community needs and assists the organisation in relating public authority service improvement for black and ethnic minorities to community regeneration, development and empowerment initiatives.
